Lake Whitney State Park - page 2

Updated: Dec 9, 2019

Instead of hiking the trail as an out and back, we made a loop by heading back along the shoreline.

I had a parenting fail, letting my daughter go on a hike near a lake without her boots on. She is the most hygroscopic kid I know. For real, she is constitutionally incapable of not getting wet.

While she had a lovely time wading through the shallows in her sock-and-sandal clad feet, by dinner time she realized that she was a wee bit cold. She changed into dry socks and shoes while I was cooking so that we could wander around a bit more to finish watching the sunset.

I had planned our camping trip to Lake Whitney to coincide with one of the monthly star parties. Unfortunately, the star party was canceled due to cold weather. We did our own star gazing on the "beach" that night with my handy star-gazing app. We didn't stay up late enough for the sky to get real dark.
