Myakka River State Park - page 3

Luisa

At the end of the boardwalk is a water-fowl viewing area. I am not great at bird identification. Good thing our cousin is! And they had this handy sign.

I do have a pretty strong heron/not heron categorization ability. For example, I saw a not-a-white-heron-with-a-weird-bill Ibis. I definitely saw some Roseate spoonbills because there were some pink specs that moved off in the distance. And, there were some really loud pretend ducks...err, moorhens.

Next time I’d like to kayak the river. I’m pretty sure we missed out on a key Florida activity. I was just recovering from abdominal surgery, though, so it seemed like a bad plan (check out my canoe outing on the same trip).

Get out, and walk along the tree tops

About Me

In my spare time, I can be found wandering around in the elements with one or more snack hoarders. Follow along as we hike, scramble, swim, scooter, bike, boat (and other ready means of locomotion) through the great outdoors.
